USE THEM OR LOSE THEM – SMALL BUSINESSES WILL SHUT IF WE DON’T SHOP LOCAL

Britain has lost 6,000 shops over the past five years. A dismal forecast by PwC predicts almost 30,000 businesses will go under in 2024. Small businesses are particularly at risk with high interest rates, low economic growth and high energy prices. So it is imperative that we support our local businesses who are run by local people, many of whom are family businesses and absolute pillars of their community.

I know we have a vested interest as we support local independent carpet retailers but the reality is they really are ‘experts’ in their field, are passionate about what they do and are extemely knowledgable. Furthermore, our retailers operate under a TSI approved Code of Practice (the only carpet retailers in the country who do) and they have to earn the right to keep that accrediation every year as we are monitored annually.

Independent businesses need us more then ever. If there is one retail rallying cry for 2024 it is surely this – use them or lose them.
