Susan Crewe, editor of House & Garden, exclaimed in her introduction to the January 2001 edition that 'carpet was poised to come back into fashion in 2001'.
Such sentiments are not only welcome but also reflected across the media. Carpet is being used more often in home interest titles and the Carpet Foundation is positioning itself as the 'one stop shop' for journalists and stylists who are making more and more requests for carpet for roomsets and features.
As part of our ongoing PR activity, frequent visits are made to publishing houses with funding partners using themes such as colour, design, texture and innovation while numerous events for the media have been held including trips on The London Eye and launch parties.
The increase in column inches for carpet is not only a result of our relationship with the media but also a softening in manufacturers approach to making carpet available. In the media, it is all a case of 'here and now'. Carpet is often the last thing thought of and invariably necessitates a quick response. We are able to offer immediate delivery of any of Carpet Foundation members products to magazines, yet another instance of Carpet Foundation member companies working to ensure that the UK consumer is exposed to carpet and its benefits.
