Tests for The Quality Mark

Carpet tested under THE SUITABILITY EVALUATION SYSTEM for the award of The CARPET FOUNDATION QUALITY MARK will be subject to the testing methods detailed in BS EN 1307. This British Standard for Textile Floor Coverings refers to the standards set for each of the tests used as follows: -

  • WEAR INDEX
    This is calculated from: -
    - Surface Pile Weight ISO 8543
    - Surface Pile Density ISO 8543
    - Fibre Factor BS EN 1307
  • APPEARANCE RETENTION - ISO/TR 10361 and EN 1471
  • TUFT DENSITY - ISO 1763
  • LUXURY RATING
    Calculated from: -
    - Pile Height ISO 1766
    - Surface Pile Weight ISO 8543
    - Tuft Density ISO 1763
  • FLAMMABILITY
    Methenamine Pill BS 6307 (Assessed as per BS 5287)
    Hot Metal Nut Test BS 4790 (Assessed as per BS 5287)
