Monitoring of The Quality Mark

independently monitored BY THE TEXTILE INSTITUTE

THE TEXTILE INSTITUTE

The Textile Institute is the Chartered Professional Institute for Textiles with members in over 90 countries and an international structure and operations. It has a Royal Charter and its headquarters is based in Manchester. It covers textiles, clothing and footwear setting professional standards across a wide range of disciplines in the textile sector.

One of the many fields in which The Textile Institute has achieved excellence is the testing of textile materials including carpet. The Institute will bring years of experience of testing for quality in carpet to the monitoring of The CARPET FOUNDATION QUALITY MARK.

MONITORING PROCESS

The Textile Institute will ensure the QUALITY MARK is managed in a professional and ethical manner through close involvement with all aspects of the scheme. This will cover the following areas: -

  • Textile Institute specialists will be nominated to participate in The Carpet Foundation Quality Mark Awards Council, the decision making body which determines which products will qualify for the award.
  • The Textile Institute will be involved in The Quality Mark Review Board which will keep all aspects of the scheme under constant review and suggest improvements to the scheme.
  • A programme of random product tests will be monitored by The Textile Institute to ensure the integrity of The Quality Mark Scheme.
  • The Textile Institute will maintain a database of products which qualify for the use of The Quality Mark.
  • The Textile Institute will make recommendations on how the scheme can be improved to ensure the consumer can continue to rely on its efficiency and integrity.
