The Quality Mark Awards Process
The process for obtaining the QUALITY MARK for a carpet product is as follows: -
- Only manufacturers who are full members of The Carpet Foundation can use the Quality Mark.
- The Carpet Foundation member sends in test details of the product to be considered using a standard application form and a sample of the product.
- The test results are entered into The Carpet Foundation Quality Mark Database and a score under the SUITABILITY EVALUATION SYSTEM is obtained which corresponds to a relevant suitability classification.
- The calculated suitability classification is then compared with the actual suitability claim made by the manufacturer. Where the manufacturers claim is supported by the calculated suitability the QUALITY MARK can be used.
- The Carpet Foundation makes a recommendation to the Quality Awards Council, a body of Carpet Foundation and Textile Institute representatives, for a decision.
- A product cannot carry the QUALITY MARK if the manufacturers suitability claim is not backed up by the SUITABILITY EVALUATION SYSTEM test results.
