Red carpet treatment for Media
7th September 2009
159 guests packed into Claridge’s for the 9th Red Carpet Awards organised by the Carpet Foundation. Top figures from the magazine and TV world joined with leading figures from the UK carpet industry to mark the editorial exposure given to carpet in the last 12 months in the national media.
100 journalists from 20 magazines in total including Homes & Gardens, Good Housekeeping, 25 Beautiful Homes, Woman & Home, Living Etc, House Beautiful and Your Home were in attendance as well as 2 TV programmes and 24 freelance journalists.
In the last 12 months, the Carpet Foundation has generated over £1million of free editorial coverage for carpet in the media. The Awards are now recognised as the ‘awards’ in the home interest market and every year articles, features, decorating items and makeovers are specifically undertaken in an attempt to win an award.
Rupert Anton, Carpet Foundation Marketing Director said: “The UK carpet industry has never had so much written about it - it is one of the hidden jewels of the Carpet Foundation’s work and one that is frequently commented upon by retailers when they are shown some of the coverage we generate by our On the Road representatives.
For the media, the Awards are a ‘must attend’ out of choice rather than out of duty and every major home interest magazine is represented. They have raised the profile of carpet and that of the CF and it is an environment in which over the years relationships have been forged. Such a high turn out from such influential figures in the media demonstrates that we are the authoritative, pro-active interface between the press and the industry and are their first port of call when it comes to carpet.”
