Quality Mark

Look for the Quality Mark; you really can believe what it says on the label

In 2002, in a move to protect consumers from exaggerated or unsubstantiated product suitability claims, the Carpet Foundation introduced the Quality Mark.

To capitalise on HRH Prince Charles’ Campaign for Wool and in recognition of the fact that 99% of all carpet produced by Carpet Foundation manufacturers contains over 50% of wool, we have introduced the ‘Wool Rich’ Quality Mark.
The Benefits to You
  • It guarantees consistency in quality standards
  • It is the antidote to excessive quality claims
  • Peace of mind that the carpet you buy is the right one for you and your needs
  • It is the only consumer focussed quality assurance initiative in the UK carpet industry
  • It is underpinned by internationally recognised product testing procedures
  • Confidence that the carpet you buy is fit for its intended use
  • Products are 'randomly' tested at an independent laboratory to ensure compliance
  • In 8 years, there has never been a problem with excessive claims
  • All the leading UK manufacturers support it
  • A product cannot carry the Quality Mark if the suitability claim is not backed up by the Suitability Evaluation System results
  • All products are registered with the Carpet Foundation
What Tests are carried out?

A Suitability Evaluation System weighs up the importance of the tests to produce a corresponding suitability description.
