Technical Director For Carpet Foundation

David Whitefoot, former Technical manager with Adam Carpets has joined the Carpet Foundation in the newly created post of Technical Director with effect from July 1st 2001.

The Carpet Foundation was set up in August 1999 to launch a generic promotional campaign to remind consumers of the benefits of carpet. Supported by 13 of the top UK manufacturers accounting for 70% of the carpet made in the UK the Foundation has now become the lead body for the UK carpet manufacturing industry. Technical matters will be high on the agenda for the Carpet Foundation particularly since the launch of the Quality Mark, a testing based product endorsement for the domestic market.

Other technical issues such as health, standards and labelling, pollution and the environment, European legislation and product performance testing will all be major challenges for the new Technical Director who in addition will improve the level of technical support to Foundation members.

Carpet Foundation Chairman Mike Mills, Managing Director of Ulster Carpets, was delighted with the appointment.

"David Whitefoot has over 40 years of technical experience in the industry across all sectors and this will be invaluable for the Foundation. With technical and environmental issues becoming increasingly important it is essential that we have access to the highest quality of specialist advice."

David joins the Foundation after 10 years with Adam and a long career which has also included spells with Woodward Grosvenor, Heuga, Carpets of Worth and ICI. He is a fellow of the Textile Institute.
