As we inch towards the Spring and Summer, all our manufacturers agree that in terms of carpet trends, neutrals and greys are still very much the shades of choice for carpets. They create an air of elegance and sophistication and work well throughout the home. David Cormack, marketing director of Cormar Carpets adds: “Dark shades and textures are also big this season. They create a mysterious, romantic setting and are real statement colours. Texture is becoming more important and people are experimenting with deeper piles and loop piles which not only give a different look but are also a firm contrast to, and sit alongside, smooth and hard flooring.”

Jeremy Wilson at Ulster Carpets adds: “We are definitely seeing pattern gradually become more popular as homeowners seek to put their own stamp on their interior. Patterned carpet can give that ‘bespoke’ look and create a theme for a room. As colour has come back into fashion fabrics and furnishing accessories, we will see this reflected in carpet colours, albeit in a quieter, more reserved way.”
