Axminster Carpets were originally woven in the Devon market town of Axminster in 1755. Axminster Carpets Ltd continues to uphold this tradition and has built a worldwide reputation for quality and service in the Contract Flooring sector.

We have a dedicated contract design team and with our 8 pitch computerised jacquard looms we are capable of fulfilling the most demanding requirements.

In addition to bespoke designs we also carry stocks of a wide selection of Contract ranges woven in 100% wool or 80/20 yarns. With offices and distribution centres both in the U.K. and America and a worldwide network of agents, you can be assured that 'our tradition is your future.'

DOMESTIC:

In 1755 a cloth weaver by the name of Thomas Whitty wove the very first Axminster Carpet here in Axminster, in the heart of the Devonshire countryside. Axminster Carpets Ltd continues to uphold this tradition, and the name Axminster is now recognised worldwide as being synonymous with quality, style, elegance and luxury.

The late Harry Dutfield restored the art of carpet weaving to the town in 1937 developing a worldwide reputation for patterned 100% pure new wool carpets.

We have our own flock of Drysdale Sheep, a breed developed for carpet weaving yarn, and with our own Spinning Mill at Buckfast on the edge of Dartmoor, we handle every aspect of the carpet making process 'from fleece to floor.'
