Back your local independents
Shops are now open – and lockdown loosening has begun. Now, more than ever before, is the time to support our local communities and shopkeepers. Online shopping has kept us fed, watered, clothed and entertained – but, throughout the pandemic, for many of us local shops have also been a lifeline. So, now non-essential shops are open, now is the time to support those local outlets whose livelihoods have been disrupted.
We would say that, but the reality is that if we don’t use them, we will lose them – and these are the very people who do ‘community’ things and have a strong understanding of, and affinity with, their community. Truly ‘local’ businesses, they support, sponsor and donate to local causes because they ‘get’ it and are firmly entrenched in the local fabric.
They are essential to local economies and, as a recent survey showed, they also play a major role in our mental and physical health. Seven in ten consumers said shopping locally makes them feel happier compared with shopping online. Walking to shops boosts our wellbeing as does chatting to shopkeepers.
Support your local independent carpet shops – you won’t be disappointed and will be fuelling your local economy.
